Baosiwei’s Insights on Small Batch Packaging Box Digital Printing

At the recently concluded Xiamen Printing & Packaging Exhibition, Baosiwei shared our experience and insights in digital printing with industry peers. We highlighted two major initiatives: showcasing our newly upgraded 16-head 8-color packaging box digital printer, and delivering a keynote at the “Packaging Box Industry Forum” on how to implement small batch packaging box digital printing.

01 Packaging Box Industry Forum: Practical Insights into Small Batch Packaging Box Printing

Baosiwei was invited to the “Forum”, where we presented “How to Choose a Small Batch Packaging Box Digital Printer by Following Advanced Factory Cases.”

Today, there is growing interest in small batch packaging box digital printing, but limited real adoption. This is due to unstable demand, inconsistent color standards, and concerns over long-term equipment support — all issues the industry must address together.

Exploring new models: Joining hands with partners such as Zhongshan Lianfu, we tested a “roll-to-sheet” production mode, designed for small batch runs. After more than one year's practice, this mode has gradually demonstrated its applicability.

Proven feasibility: From over 100 factories across China, Baosiwei collected real-world feedback and continuously optimized machine stability. For example, we successfully solved the problem of ink absorption in uncoated duplex board.

With further optimization of feeding, conveying, printing, and cutting, our solution now stably handles 100–400g paperboard (grey-backed whiteboard and coated duplex), delivering consistently high-quality results.

Comprehensive training: Dedicated engineers provide hands-on installation and training until operators are fully proficient.

02 Equipment Demonstration: Real Solutions for Small Batch, Multi-Order Production

At our booth, we showcased the 16-head 8-color packaging box digital printer, built for short-run, multi-batch printing. During the exhibition, the machine ran continuously, producing live samples that validated our efforts in three key areas:

Efficiency + Quality: The 16-head printer delivers double the speed of an 8-head 8-color system while maintaining comparable color accuracy—ideal for urgent or fragmented orders.

Consistent color management: With professional calibration, we achieve true WYSIWYG color reproduction, and enhance the ability to mach the Pantone color, meeting the strict standards of packaging customers.

Smart workflow: An automatic feeding system reduces media loading complexity, eliminating cranes, forklifts, and multi-person lifting — saving both labor and auxiliary equipment investment.

Looking Ahead

Both the demonstration and forum showed strong market interest in small batch packaging box printing. Our equipment and solutions aim to provide practical references and show the feasibility of this new path.
