Welcoming Mr. Allakulyew from Turkmenistan to Baosiwei Guangzhou HQ

In today’s packaging market, small runs, multiple SKUs, and frequent design changes have become increasingly common. For many paper packaging converters, the real challenge is not simply speed—it’s how to keep short orders profitable, maintain consistent colors, achieve sharp graphic detail, and ensure reliable after-sales support.

Recently, Mr. Allakulyew from Turkmenistan visited Baosiwei Guangzhou Headquarters to evaluate our digital printing solution designed for small-batch folding cartons, pizza box packaging, and custom paper bags. During the visit, Mr. Allakulyew brought his own white card stock for an on-site test. We completed sample printing at our facility and discussed three key decision factors in detail: cost, color consistency, and after-sales maintenance.

1) Customer Background: Custom Orders Demand Strong Graphics and Clear Total Cost

Mr. Allakulyew’s company mainly handles local custom paper packaging orders, including:

  • Custom paper bags (brand packaging, promotional bags, etc.)
  • Pizza box packaging (for restaurants and delivery channels)
  • Small-batch folding cartons (multiple SKUs, frequent artwork/label updates)

These orders share the same characteristics: smaller quantities, faster revisions, more designs, and customers who expect high-quality printed graphics.

That is why Mr. Allakulyew’s goal was very clear: he is not chasing maximum speed, but he requires better color accuracy and printing precision on paper, along with a clear understanding of total production cost—especially for small orders—and a support system that keeps maintenance simple and controllable.

2) Why Digital Printing Now: The Cost Structure of Short Runs Has Changed

In the past, Mr. Allakulyew relied more on traditional sheet-fed production. For large volumes with stable designs, conventional workflows remain effective. However, when orders shift to short runs, multiple versions, and frequent artwork changes, the cost structure often changes significantly:

  • Fixed costs are harder to spread across small quantities (workflow, labor, time)
  • More SKUs mean more switching loss and management overhead
  • Frequent revisions increase labor and turnaround pressure

This is the core reason Mr. Allakulyew evaluated a digital solution: not to be “slightly faster,” but to adopt a production model that matches short-run, multi-SKU packaging.

At Baosiwei, our paper packaging approach is built around roll-to-roll digital printing: the material runs continuously in roll form, and once the roll is printed, it can move more efficiently into downstream processes such as cutting and laminating. For small-batch packaging, the practical advantages are clear:

  • Fewer manual actions like repeated loading/unloading, reducing labor impact and production fluctuations
  • More stable continuous output, suitable for handling multiple versions in one production cycle
  • Lower hidden costs from setup and switching, helping short-run orders remain profitable

3) Material Compatibility First: On-Site Test on 150gsm White Card Stock

For Mr. Allakulyew, seeing results on his real material mattered more than any brochure. He brought a roll of white card stock—one of the most common materials in his daily production—for an on-site test.

  • Customer’s current material: 150gsm white card stock
  • Baosiwei packaging solution compatibility: 80gsm–400gsm white card stock

This means his current material is fully covered, and if future orders require thicker card stock for stronger bags or more rigid carton structures, the solution can scale without reworking the entire setup. For custom packaging businesses, broader material coverage makes expansion much easier.

4) On-Site Sample Test: Clear Positive Feedback from the Customer

During the test, we reviewed results from three perspectives that matter most in real production:

  • Detail and edge quality: clean lines and sharp small text
  • Color layering and transitions: natural gradients and stable color accuracy
  • Production smoothness: stable media handling and a consistent output rhythm that supports downstream processes

Mr. Allakulyew gave clear positive feedback and noted that the test results exceeded his expectations—especially the level of detail in his artwork. This helped address several concerns he had about digital printing and increased his confidence in applying a digital workflow to small-batch orders.

From our experience, “bring-your-material” on-site testing is the most effective evaluation method. It replaces assumptions with real results and makes the decision process faster and more reliable.

5) Why Baosiwei: Cost, Color, and Service Support

  • Cost: In small-run, multi-version production, traditional sheet-fed workflows often carry higher labor and switching costs. Baosiwei’s roll-to-roll digital approach is better suited for continuous output across multiple SKUs—reducing switching loss and helping short orders remain profitable.
  • Color: With an established color management system and long-term industry experience—supported by cooperation with X-Rite—Baosiwei focuses on making color control repeatable, which is essential for color-sensitive packaging and consistent reorders.
  • Maintenance: Our remote support mechanism, including the “one-click repair” service platform, gives overseas customers more confidence by reducing downtime uncertainty and improving troubleshooting efficiency.

6) Next Step: Move Toward a More Order-Realistic Confirmation

Based on the recognition of print results, color control, and service support, Mr. Allakulyew plans to proceed with a second round of testing that is closer to real order requirements. He also expects to revisit soon for further discussion, while evaluating site layout and production coordination with his team at home.

7) Bring Your Material for a Direct Test

If your factory produces paper bags, pizza box packaging, or small-batch folding cartons, and you are facing small runs with frequent design updates, you are welcome to bring your materials for an on-site test (or send them for sample testing). We can recommend a digital printing workflow based on your material type and order structure—closer to real production needs.
